On 28th December 2018, Bahir Dar institute of Technology (BiT) in cooperation with the Ethiopia Academy of Science (EAS) and Ethiopian Young Academy of Science (EtYAS) Bahir Dar Branch held a seminar. The seminar was on the role of Science Academies in promoting scientific progress.
Prof. Masresha Fetene, the executive director of EAS and from Addis Ababa University and Dr. Mariamawit Yonathan, the vice chair of EtYAS and from Addis Ababa University introduced about the Ethiopian Academy of Science (EAS) and the Ethiopian Young Academy of Science (EtYAS) to the participants.
The speakers had conducted fruitful discussion with participants on the following issues:
- What is Academy of Science?
- Why Ethiopian Academy of Science and Ethiopian Young academy of science established?
- What is the role of the Academy on Science and Technology?
- Who can be a member and how to be a member?
More than 50 academic staff and people from different regional offices attended the seminar.
