The Appropriate-Scale Mechanization Consortium for Sustainable Intensification Innovation Hub National Advisory Committee at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University Held its First Kick off Meeting

The Appropriate-Scale Mechanization Consortium for Sustainable Intensification Innovation Hub at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University assesses, develops, adapts implements, promotes, appropriate-scale agricultural mechanization for sustainable intensification focusing on smallholder farming systems in Feed-the-Future countries associated with targeted geographical regions, and enhances the participation and experience of women in the adaptation/adoption of technologies for agricultural development.

To this end, the ASMC project’s National Innovation Hub Advisory Committee had been composed from experts in the area of mechanization, sustainable intensification, advance cropping systems, gender, business modeling as well as private , public and non-governmental organizations in Ethiopia to meet regularly to discuss project progress and results.

The advisory committee held its first kick of meeting on October 13, 2018. The discussion of the meeting was mainly focused on getting know each other as they came from different corner of the country,  over view of the projects being undertaken by researchers in Bahir Dar institute of technology;  electing secretary and chair person of the committee respectively.

Having known each other and attended the presentation and discussion of the progress of the projects carried out since its establishment, the participants of the committee elected Dr. Siefu as secretary of the Innovation Hub Advisory Committee from Bahir Dar institute of technology,, and Dr. Solomon Assefa as chair person of the committee from Amhara National Regional State Bureau of Agriculture.

Finally, they discussed the committee’s future major tasks to transfer, sustain and intensify the applicability of agricultural technologies yielded through the project works on the targeted areas such as Bahir Dar zuria woreda, Burie zuria woreda and Dangla woreda., and they suggested that they will be committed and accountable to their responsibilities
