ITQA offers Training on Kaizen Implementation for BiT Students’ Representatives

Office of Institutional Transformation and Quality Assurance (ITQA) has conducted a short training on kaizen concept and its implementation for BiT students’ council, different students’ clubs and class representatives of all academic programs in the institute. The training has been accomplished for half day (on 05, March, 2014). More than 100 students have participated in the training.

Students should play a role in organizing and keeping of their living/learning environment (dormitories, class rooms and laboratories). The major purpose of this training is to facilitate or enhance the quality of teaching-learning process through well organized class rooms and Laboratories. More specifically, the following issues are addressed in the training:

Creating awareness on kaizen for students’ council, students’ clubs and class representatives of all academic programs in the institute.

Initiating students to implement the principles of kaizen in the teaching – learning process.

Enabling students to organize and keep clean their living/learning environment (dormitories, classrooms, and laboratories).

Director for Institutional Transformation and Quality Assurance in BiT has conducted this training. He has overviewed globalization effect, concept and meaning of kaizen as well as the necessity of kaizen implementation in the BahirDar institute of technology. He explained that Kaizen is one of the major management philosophies and tools that enable education institutes like BiT to compete with their competitors. Kaizen can be implemented everywhere, every time and by everyone. He showed some pictures of the existing situations of Bit environment, class rooms and laboratories that impressed participants. He emphasized that every student in the institute should actively participate in kaizen implementation to avoid those problems.

Finally, students have expressed their interest to implement kaizen in their respective dormitories, class rooms, and laboratories.  They have also requested top management of the Bahirdar institute of technology to support on material supply to kaizen implementation.
