Background of FCFE

Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering (FCFE) is one of the five faculties in BiT having currently three undergraduate programs (Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, and Applied Human Nutrition) and 15 postgraduate programs Post harvest and management, Process Engineering, Environmental Engineering,  Food Technology, Food safety and quality, Sugar technology in MSc and PhD in Postharvest Technology, Biochemical engineering ,Enviromental and Biological engineering , Nano scince and Technology , polymer scince and engineering and process engineering and design).
The faculty was first established as School of Chemical and Food Engineering in 2010, with realization of Engineering Capacity Building Program (ECBP), by integrating the  departments of Chemical Engineering and Food Technology and Food Process Engineering. It has conducted a series of structural reforms abide by BiT’s structure to improve its role in teaching-learning, research and community service activities. The Faculty is equipped with different states of the art, lab facilities and skilled human power, which enable it to effectively conduct the aforementioned activities It owns 16 laboratories of which two of them are research grade. Research areas in the faculty include process intensification, energy utilization, product development, packaging, waste valorization, and applied human nutrition. 
Our Program Educational Objectives are broadly stated, as being appropriate for the wide range of careers that our graduates will pursue, in industry, business, government, academia, and non profit institutions.
 
 Student Admission 
 
Admissions and placements to all regular undergraduate programs are processed through the ministry until such time as the university will be allowed to enroll its students. It may also be granted to students completing their secondary education in foreign countries on the basis of equivalent academic achievements that shall be determined by the ministry. Admissions to all undergraduate continuing and distance education programs is processed through the various faculties, in consultation with the institute registrar, by considering criteria to be developed by the Academic Standards and Review Committee. The criteria shall be developed based on the framework from ministry and/or HERQA.
