Bahir Dar Institute of technology, Bahir Dar University hosted consultative meeting on progress of ERA sponsored road sector post graduate Engineering program

Ethiopia Road Authority (ERA) has been working with seven IOT Ethiopian universities in building manpower capacity of the Road sector so as to be competitive both at national and international level. As a result.  Bahir Dar institute of technology Faculty of Civil and Water Resources Engineering hosted and facilitated consultative meeting on progress of ERA sponsored road sector post graduate Engineering program on 18-19/10/2018. The participants who have represented all collaborators presented progress reports on ERA sponsored road sector post graduate Engineering program.

The Appropriate-Scale Mechanization Consortium for Sustainable Intensification Innovation Hub National Advisory Committee at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University Held its First Kick off Meeting

The Appropriate-Scale Mechanization Consortium for Sustainable Intensification Innovation Hub at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University assesses, develops, adapts implements, promotes, appropriate-scale agricultural mechanization for sustainable intensification focusing on smallholder farming systems in Feed-the-Future countries associated with targeted geographical regions, and enhances the participation and experience of women in the adaptation/adoption of technologies for agricultural development.

BiT Celebrated Inauguration ceremony of Bezawit Schnell home building elements factory

Bahir Dar Institute of technology (BiT) in Bahir Dar University has been executing its strategic plan in research, community and consultancy services. As it is one of the core processes, BiT has been involved in the plantation process of Bezawit schnell home building elements factory which was inaugurated and launched in Bahir Dar town on 29/12/ 2010 E.C.  This work was as efficiently as fruitful and successful through bilateral cooperation of Bahir Dar institute of technology and Amhara Building Works Construction Enterprise (ABWCE).

BiT Transferred technology of postharvest losses management to farmers.

Bahir Dar institute of technology- Bahir Dar University has endeavored to secure transformation of technology obtained through divers’ project works of BiT. Accordingly, the institute disseminated and transformed the new technology of postharvest losses management of cereal crops and vegetables to farmers and agricultural development officers who are found around Merawia and Bahir Dar town on 7th July 2018.

Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering held the 1st international conference on Postharvest Loss Management (PHLM) for improved livelihood and sustainable Development

The one day 1st National conference on Postharvest Loss Management (PHLM) for improved livelihood and sustainable Development was successfully conducted by the Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering in Bahir Dar Institute of Technology on 10th May 2018. Total of 70 participants were actively involved from different organization namely FAO, Sasakawa Africa Association, CASCAPE, etc.  In the conference total of 9 oral presentations (2 are plenary lectures, 7 are from researchers from different organizations) were presented.

Exit Meeting with ILSSI Farmers

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology through Faculty of Civil and Water Resources Engineering has been conducting  a cooperative research project since 2014 aiming to increase food production, improve nutrition, protect the environment and accelerate economic development through improved access to irrigation technologies for smallholder farmers, while promoting, based on research evidence, a dialogue among stakeholder communities and policy makers. The partners were ILRI, IWMI, TAMU and NCAT.

Partnership building Workshop

Workshop was conducted from 24 to 27 March 2018 at  Aba Mengesha Geneme Public Library and Information Center, Jerusalem Children and Community Development Organization (JeCCDO).

The aim of the workshop was to establish collaborations between academics from the University of Bahir Dar and the University of Cambridge and their partners on research projects that aim to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
