Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering held the 1st international conference on Postharvest Loss Management (PHLM) for improved livelihood and sustainable Development

The one day 1st National conference on Postharvest Loss Management (PHLM) for improved livelihood and sustainable Development was successfully conducted by the Faculty of Chemical and Food Engineering in Bahir Dar Institute of Technology on 10th May 2018. Total of 70 participants were actively involved from different organization namely FAO, Sasakawa Africa Association, CASCAPE, etc.  In the conference total of 9 oral presentations (2 are plenary lectures, 7 are from researchers from different organizations) were presented.

Exit Meeting with ILSSI Farmers

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology through Faculty of Civil and Water Resources Engineering has been conducting  a cooperative research project since 2014 aiming to increase food production, improve nutrition, protect the environment and accelerate economic development through improved access to irrigation technologies for smallholder farmers, while promoting, based on research evidence, a dialogue among stakeholder communities and policy makers. The partners were ILRI, IWMI, TAMU and NCAT.

Partnership building Workshop

Workshop was conducted from 24 to 27 March 2018 at  Aba Mengesha Geneme Public Library and Information Center, Jerusalem Children and Community Development Organization (JeCCDO).

The aim of the workshop was to establish collaborations between academics from the University of Bahir Dar and the University of Cambridge and their partners on research projects that aim to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University has participated in a National Agricultural Exhibition and Trade Fair

The Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University has participated in a national Agricultural Exhibition and Trade Fair organized by USAID Feed the Future Ethiopia Value Chain Activity from 27th to 28th Jan.2017 in Amhara National Regional State, West Gojjam Administrative Zone, Finote Selam town. The objective of the trade fair was to create market linkages among different institutions working on agricultural technology development and marketing.

The 2nd Amhara Agricultural Forum 2017 (AAF-2017) organized by SMIS and BiT-BDU in collaboration with International Water Management Institute was held in Bahir Dar

The 2nd Amhara Agricultural Forum 2017 (AAF-2017) was taken place in Bahir Dar, on 16 Jan 2018 at  Jacaranda Hotel, Bahir Dar, Amhara, Ethiopia. The Forum was organized by Small Scale and Micro-Irrigation Support (SMIS), and Bahir Dar Institute of Technology-Bahir Dar University  in collaboration with International Water Management Institute. Dr Seifu A Tilahun and Dr Mamaru A Moges were representing Bahir Dar Institute of Technology.

Training on Nutrition

As part of Sustainably Intensified Production Systems Impact on Nutrition (SIPSIN) project of BiT-BDU and TAMU project under Faculty of Civil and Water Resources Engineering through Dr Seifu A Tilahun,  nutrition education training have started to be given to fifty women farmers who are involved in small scale irrigation farming through Appropriate Scale Mechanization Consortium on vegetable production. The education will present key nutrition concepts that will be addressed in two rounds during eight days.

Maize crop drying via Bubble solar dryer technology has been delivered to farmers in Kudmi village, Mecha district of West Gojjam to implement integrated postharvest management of grains

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, in collaboration with the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for the Reduction of Postharvest Loss (PHL-IL) has organized a practical training on drying of maize by solar bubble drier to farmers in Kudmi village in Mecha district. The practical training held as of November 25, 2017 aims at introduction of integrated post management of maize grains.  A total of fifty farmers participated on the training into two batch  of which 20 were females.

GIZ-STEP in collaboration with BiT gave ProNet Entrepreneurship Training

GIZ-STEP in collaboration with Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT) organized and delivered training workshop entitled ‘ProNet Entrepreneurship workshop’ from 6th to 17th Nov. 2017. The ProNet Entrepreneurship training main objective is an experiential training package designed to equip graduates, academia and local enterprises with practical knowledge and skills to initiate, plan, and run their own business with practically tested tools and techniques in the business environment. Regional training workshop on Food Safety and Post-harvest Loss Management was conducted at BiT BDU

A two days Regional training workshop on Food Safety and Postharvest Loss Management was conducted at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University from 27-28/02/2010 E.C.  More than 25 agricultural expertise from ANRS, 8 Model farmers and 8 academic staff were attained the training program.

ከ2011 የትምህርት ዘመን ጀምሮ በሁሉም የቅድመ ምረቃ ትምህርት መስኮች ተማሪዎች ከመመረቃቸው በፊት የብቃት መለኪያ አጠቃላይ ምዘና መውሰድ ይጠበቅባቸዋል

የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት በልዩ ልዩ የሙያ መመስኮች በብቃት የስለጠነ ሥራ መሪ ፣ ተመራማሪ፣ አዲስ ዕውቀት አፍላቂ ዜጋ ማፍራት ይችሉ ዘንድ ለትምህርት ጥራት ልዩ ትኩረት ተሰጥቶ እየተሰራ  መሆኑ ይታወቃል ፡፡ የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ጥራት በተለይም የምሩቃን ብቃትና ተወዳዳሪነት ለማረጋገጥ የተለያዩ ምዘናዎችን መስጠት በተለይም ተማሪዎች ትምህርታቸውን ካጠናቀቁ በኋላ አጠቃላይ ምዘና መስጠት የምሩቃንን ዕውቀት ክህሎትና አመለካከት ለመመዘን የላቀ ሚና ይጫወታል፡፡ ተመራቂ ተማሪዎችም በራስ መተማመንን እንዲያጎለብቱ ያደርጋል፡፡ ስለዚህም በዩኒቨርሲቲ የሚሰጠውን ትምህርት ተከታታለው ያጠናቀቁ የቅድመ ምረቃ መርሃ ግብር ዕጩ ምሩቃን ከመመረቃቸው ቀድሞ አጠቃላይ ምዘና እንዲወስዱና ብቃታቸው እንዲረጋገጥ ይደረጋል፡፡

በመሆኑም ከ2011 የትምህርት ዘመን ጀምሮ በሁሉም የቅድመ ምረቃ ትምህርት መስኮች ተማሪዎች ከመመረቃቸው በፊት የብቃት መለኪያ የሚሆነውን አጠቃላይ ምዘና ወሰደው አጥጋቢና ከዚያ በላይ ውጤት ማስመዝገብ ይጠበቅባቸዋል፡፡
