3rd National Conference on University Industry Linkage

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology in Collaboration with Ethiopian Institute of Textile and Fashion Design has organized the third National Annual Conference on University Industry Linkage at 4-5th Dec,2015 with the theme “University–Industry Linkage for Better Internship Practice and Technology Transfer”. The main objective of the conference is to bring universities and different stakeholders close together in such a way that Technology institutes and Industries in Ethiopia can set common objectives in getting the missing link & addressing problems associated with it.
On his welcoming speech Dr. Nigus Gabbiye, Scientific Director of BiT stated that most developed economies as a result of good linkage created between Universities & Industries enjoyed drastic industrial revolutions. Consistent with the Growth and Transformation Plan of the Ethiopian government, Technology institutes are also striving to play their key role in transforming the country. Thus, a sustainable collaboration between Universities and Industries is the best enabling mechanism in realizing accelerated transformation in Ethiopia. In this regard, BiT and EiTEX are highly striving to improve their collaboration with industries in the area of research, technology transfer, capacity building and industry internship practice. He also appreciates the response and follow-up that we are getting from some industries regarding our internship students.
The workshop brought government officials, academicians, and practitioner’s altogether to speak about their common problems and interests; about their nation’s growth and development; and eventually about the globe too. Thus, there were more than 200 participants from government ministries, scientific director and vice presidents of all government and private universities; deans of engineering faculties; representatives of UIL coordinating offices in technology institutes & sector-based industry development institutes, TVET colleges, industries, & regional government officials, & directors, deans, & chairs of the organizing institutes, BiT & EiTEX.
