Bahir Dar University Inaugurates Bio gas Plant

Bahir Dar University institute of technology university industry linkage and community service office together with energy center inaugurate bio gas plant.

The biogas power plant is produced from Municipal (students) waste. The plant is used for baking Injera. Therefore, it helps to utilize energy instead of fire wood for fuel, minimizes air pollution and saves cost.

Dr. Baylie Damtie, Bahir Dar University president, Dr. Nigus Gabiyu- Bahir Dar University institute of technology scientific director, invited college deans and directors participate at the plant inauguration.

Besides this plant, technology institutes university industry linkage office is serving the community in Kolela, Merawi and Fogera weredas for selected six households by building Bio gas plant and solar energy. Farmers from the mentioned households witnessed the benefit they gained from community service offered by the University. They are using the energy for cooking, lightening and charging their radio and cell phones.

Finally, Dr. Baylie acknowledges technology institute directors, researchers and farmers for their cooperation and voluntarism to adapt technologies.
