A new Program–MSc in Irrigation Engineering and Management is launched in eight universities of Ethiopia. Faculty of Civil & Water Resources Engineering, Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, will start the program in the second semester this year.
The program is the joint effort of eight universities namely, Bahir Dar University (BDU), Arba Minch University (AMU), Dilla University (DU), Mekelle University (MU), Addis Ababa University (AAU), Hawassa University(HU), Jimma University(JU), and Haromaya University(HU) to improve the higher education participation in facilitating sustainable expansion of irrigation in Ethiopia. The Ethiopian government, smallholder entrepreneurs, private sectors, and international donors have been investing colossal amount in irrigation infrastructure. The program responds to their needs by producing qualified interdisciplinary experts.
