It is part of the Bahir Dar Institute of Technology (BiT) involve in creating a sustainable development for generations to come through a world class education in the clean power generation, efficient utilization of renewable energy where in the world you live.

The main academic objective and goal of the sustainable energy center is to offer excellent education programs in renewable energy technologies, as well as to strengthen future cooperation between leading Ethiopian and international academic and research institutions of renewable energies.

The center delivers world-leading learning, research and policy support on the challenges of energy generation, utilization, energy security and climate change. The program promotes cutting edge multidisciplinary research based education in the areas of Energy. Hence, it offers an intensive and unique interdisciplinary research oriented twoyears graduate program in Sustainable Energyengineering and carries 120 ECTS/ 41 credits.  It approach blends expertise from across the country to make a truly interdisciplinary contribution to the development of a globally sustainable energy system. All instruction and correspondence is in English.

The Energycenter undertakes most of its work in partnership with industry, government, communities at large and other academic bodies to ensure that the research carried out has a real-world impact.

Admission requirements

A minimum requirement for admission to the M.Sc. Program in Sustainable Energy engineering is a B.Sc. degree with top grades in engineering or physical/natural sciences (chemistry, physics, geology and related fields). Students will have to demonstrate a good understanding of English, both in reading and writing with an entrance exam about fundamentals of renewable energy. An admission committee will review student applications, transcripts, CV, recommendation letters and confirmation of English efficiency as well as other information.

Final Degree:

The MSc. Program is concluded by writing a master thesis during the 4th semester.Achievement of the final degree “DEGREE OF MASTER OF SCIENCE IN SUSTAINABLE ENERGY ENGINEERING” granted by BDU/ BiT.
