The 3rdInternational Conference on Information and Communication Technology for Development for Africa (ICT4DA2021), was held in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia from 22 to 24 November, 2021. Keynote Speakers, panelists, authors, as well as delegates from sponsors, ICT-related governmental and non-governmental offices, companies and organizations have participated in the conference. ICT4D Research Center of BiT-BDU has organized the training which was opened on May 10, 2021 and known to be run until May 27, 2021. It is being conducted as Abchikli Community Network and Internet Related Skill Training Pilot Project with Internet Society, Internet Society Ethiopian chapter, & Partners in Education Ethiopia. The trainees are  unemployed graduates  IT and related fields from Durbetie, Bahir Dar Science, Technology & Information Communication Commission Incubation Center , Bahir Dar City Administration, Zegie and Tis ABay. The purpose of the training is to develop skills of trainees for job creation.

The 3rd  2021 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology for Development for Africa (ICT4DA2021) conference which  will take place in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia on 22-24 November, 2021 is sponored by IEEE.  All accepted and presented papers will be submitted to IEEE Xplore for publication. Plan international Ethiopia implement a project that aims at laying a framework for primary school students where they will introduce to programming, computers, electronics, and other emerging technologies at an early age. BiT of BDU, specifically, ICT4D research center and computing faculty in collaboration with US based firm named Targeted Training Institute (TTI) made a call for a training before a month. Accordingly, more than 330 applicants are registered for the  practical training. About 160 IT- related fields graduates and students have been selected. The virtual training has been emarked on 21 April 2021 after an orientation session held a day before. We really appreciate the commitment of TTI in providing the training.

BiTSkillsLab is Afrika’s employability and capacity building program. It develops digital skills, coding capabilities and workplace readiness. Microsoft is launching SkillsLab program in BiT, BDU. This program intends to deliver practical and virtual training and give globally recognized certification. You can apply for Cyber Security or  Data Science program. Targeted Technology Institute, which is IT training and consultancy firm in USA, in collaboration with Bahir Dar Institute Technology of Bahir Dar University, specifically, ICT4D research center and faculty of computing have arranged a robust training in website design and development. The training is a fully practical training and completion of the training is evaluated with successful development of enterprise scale, interactive and responsive websites by each trainee. ICT4D Research Center announced open call for research proposals at the end of June 2020. Accordingly, 16 proposals were submitted. The proposals underwent multiple stages of pre-screening, critical review and open proposal defense presentation evaluations. Four proposals were able to pass the evaluations. However, due to budget constraints only the two top scoring proposals are opted for 2013 E.C. funding. The proposals selected are the first two researchs on ongoing research list.

The ICT4D Research Center kindly invites staff of BDU to apply for this call for proposals for possible funding. The new research proposal shall address existing problems using ICT-related remedies and have a special relevance to development of the country. The proposals should be in line with the research thematic areas of the research center. The final output of the research must be published in a reputable journal.
