Privacy and Digital Security

Information technology gradually becomes an integral part of our day to day activities. Now a day’s government organizations, militaries, corporations, financial institutions, hospitals and other businesses collect, process and store a great deal of confidential information on computers and transmit that data across networks to other computers. Information is a critical asset and that how information is managed, controlled and protected has a significant impact on the delivery of services. Information assets must be protected from unauthorized use, disclosure, modification, damage and loss. Additionally, information assets must be available when needed, particularly during emergencies and times of crisis. Privacy and research group which is run under ICT4D research Institute is a dedicated group organized with a vision of solving security and privacy related problems of the societies. The mission of this research group is conducting researches in the area of privacy and security to identify potential security vulnerabilities and threats of the societies in order to design, implement and maintain a security mechanism that protects the countries critical systems, services and data against unauthorized use, disclosure, modification, damage and loss. This research group mainly focuses on the following strategic pillars but not limited to those strategies only.

Strategic issues

  1. Privacy and Identity-conduct researches and develop security mechanism to reduce the privacy and identity related problem of governmental offices, financial institutions, hospitals and other businesses areas.
  2. Security- ensures Cybersecurity to promote and foster security of governmental offices, financial institutions, hospitals and other businesses areas.
  3. Security risk management - develop policies, standards, procedures and best practice guidelines to ensure a safe, compliant, and properly risk managed computing and network environment
