Mr. Misba Abidela has successfully defended his PhD dissertation in the Faculty of Civil and Water Resource Engineering at Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT-BDU). His dissertation, titled "Impact of Irrigation and Nutrient Management on Forage Crops in Ethiopia," was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Seifu Adimasu from BiT and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), with Dr. Melkamu Bezabih Derseh from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) guiding as co-advisor.

Mr. Misba’s research focused on assessing the performance of various forage types under different water management and agronomic practices in the sub-humid Ethiopian highlands. His study aimed to explore how different levels of nutrient and water inputs affect forage growth, irrigation management practices, and the subsequent impact on runoff, soil erosion, and the quality of soil in the region. The findings are expected to significantly contribute to improved irrigation and nutrient management practices for forage crops in Ethiopia.

The defense was attended by a panel of external examiners, including Dr. Getnet Assefa from the Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research and Dr. Tena Alameriew from Addis Ababa University. Both examiners, along with the attending audience, raised numerous insightful questions and provided valuable feedback, all of which were addressed by Mr.Misba in a detailed and comprehensive manner.

Bahir Dar Institute of Technology-Bahir Dar University wishes to congratulate Mr. Misba Abidela on his outstanding academic achievement.
