Dean’s Message
Greetings from Faculty of Civil and Water Resources Engineering (FCWRE), Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia.  The FCWRE is located at the capital city of the Amhara Regional State (Bahir Dar) at the shore of Lake Tana, the largest fresh Lake in Ethiopia and the source of Blue Nile.
Currently, the FCWRE has about 170 academic staffs and technical assistants.  The faculty has three undergraduate, eight masters and nine PhD programs. Currently, in the academic year of 2021/2022, more than 1200 students are enrolled in the faculty. From the 1200 students, 513 students are enrolled for undergraduate program while the remaining 687 are post graduate students.

FCWRE has the enviable record of producing the highest number of graduates in both undergraduate and post graduate programs. This enviable achievement was made possible by a team of dedicated academic staff, as well as hardworking and disciplined students.
Our students are provided with numerous opportunities for experiential learning, such as group projects, laboratory experiments, field visits, and internships.  The faculty has numerous international research collaborations with universities from USA, Europe, Asian, and African. We are working hard for the international accreditations of our Civil Engineering program through US based ABET system.
Individually and collectively, our efforts to support you in reaching your educational goals breathe life into our mission and vision in ultimately promoting and improving your educational carrier and remain source of pride for the nation through education, research and innovation in your fields of study.
