Program Description
The program runs a curriculum offering a five year B.Sc. degree in Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering. The Water Resources and Irrigation program has best effort to teach the professional to the nation‟s needs by developing curricula, expanding undergraduate programs, and offering the programs. The Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering program provides training for regular undergraduate programs leading to a B.Sc. degree in Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering.

Objectives
This program is aimed at training manpower required for the realization of the country‟s untouched Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering works. Well qualified Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering with adequate knowledge in the area of Hydraulic, irrigation, water supply and other Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering project and who can be actively engaged in the planning, development and management of Water Resources and Irrigation project will be produced through this program. Specifically, the trainees will be equipped with the knowledge that enables them to execute the following tasks:

  • Undertake project identification, pre-feasibility and feasibility study and detail design of Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering works.
  • Prepare complete contract documents and terms of references for Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering project
  • Plan, manage, monitor and evaluate the operation and maintenance of Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering works.
  • Remodeling and rehabilitation of existing Water Resources and Irrigation Engineering works.

Admission criteria
Applicants should achieve the minimum score on Ethiopian Higher Education Qualification Certificate Examination (EHEQCE) or equivalent which satisfies admission cut point to higher education set by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Higher Education Relevance and Quality Agency.
